CD
Replication - The reproduction of media such as optical discs by
stamping (often referred to as manufacturing). Involves expensive
automated equipment, normally utilized for large quantity orders only due
to setup costs unlike duplication.
CD Replication
Replication is the standard used to make
mass quantities of discs. A "glass master" of your information
is made which in turn produces "stampers" which are used for
injection molding the information onto CD foil. The information is
then protected by layers of polycarbonate plastic. It is then lacquered,
usually screened, and ultimately packaged. Because most of this process is
automated, the cost per unit becomes factored in and very affordable on
orders generally greater than 1000 or 2000 pieces. Until recently, almost
all CD Replication Replication companies would only offer service of
larger replication runs to their customers.
Both processes extract the information from
your master source in EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. Other than the way your disc
is manufactured, the biggest noticeable difference between a replicated
disc and a duplicated disc may be the way your disc is printed. This is
usually due to the cost restraints associated with the method chosen to
process the order.
True or False: CDRs which are
duplicated are not as reliable as CDs that are replicated?
It may surprise you to find out that in
most cases the answer to this question is FALSE. DVDRs were invented for
the storage of data, video, audio and more, despite the current
compatibility issues with recordable DVDs. Audio CD-Rs were an offspring
of the data CD. As with any new technology, there were bugs and glitches
to iron out when trying to mass-produce audio CD-Rs. In an effort to get
product into the market place, many CD-R manufactures produced subpar
product which had trouble loading audio and thus would keep your CD from
"spinning up" in an audio only player. Today's CD-Rs are
manufactured under much stricter guidelines. It is true that there are
still many inferior brands of CDRs saturating the market place, but by
choosing a reputable duplication company which uses only professional
equipment and high quality media, you are assured of receiving a quality
product. At ProAction Media, we use only the best equipment and grade A
media (proven to "spin up" in almost all circumstances)
available to process your order.Your finished product is verified in our
duplication equipment prior to leaving our factory and will match your
master source completely. We guarantee it. |
